FIRST GIG
Cosmic egg was conceived on July 1st, 1997, when our (Clint and Pradeepa) first duo gig was at an acoustic night in Fitzroy, Melbourne. The small and bewildered audience saw a didgeridoo and bass duet to the tune of Dr Who, along with a bunch of  original songs. We have done duo gigs together ever since, even when the band is happening.

IMPRO PERIOD
Over the next year or so we played, as cosmic egg, with lots of other musos, mainly sax, percussion and didgeridoo players. These gigs had lots of impro jams with Pradeepa's didge groovin' to Clint's everfunky bass, plus some original songs.
We had worked on each others songs, but were yet to write a song together from scratch. Until one morning we wrote "You Don't Have To Be Skinny To Be Sexy", a line Pradeepa had wanted to use for ages. The song was written quickly and easily, and was to help define cosmic egg's direction, humourous songs with a message. Since then we have written heaps more songs together, including everything on this CD.

YOU GOT TO BE JOKING...
Adrian (drums) - Hungarian madman.
Ed (guitar) - ex-student of Luke
Highlight Gigs - 1999 Campus Band Comp (Rounds 1&2)
Reason for break-up - Ed had to be replaced after he announced that he can't play "Dick Control" or "Porn Queen", for fear of getting into trouble with his fellow Jehovah Witnesses. True story.

CD RECORDING
In April 2000 we went into Lock-up Studio in Geelong with Adrian and Simon to record drums. Some of Simon's guide tracks can still be heard, but Adrian nailed the drums on 8 tracks. After Clint redid the bass tracks came the cavalcade of guitarists: Mark, Ed & Dylan, each playing the songs they play best. Next we were blessed with Phil's flawless saxophone playing, followed by Kristina on keyboards. Darren came in for Porn Queen, and final vocal tracks were done before mixing began in October. Mastering took place in November at Crystal Mastering in Melbourne.

Adrian Kiraly drums all band songs
Simon Bilsborough guitar orbit, cheapskate (solo)
Clint Healy fretless bass, vocals everything
Mark Greig guitar censorship, skinny (lead)
Ed guitar tv, cheapskate, orbit
Dylan Reynolds guitar skinny, dick control, porn queen (bridge)
Phil Bywater sax censorship, cheapskate, skinny
