ABOUT US

We are passionate about a lot of things. Topping the list though are music and social change. So it seemed only to natural to write songs about and for social change. The songs really say it better than what I can express here.

Clint's other project is compiling an ethical consumer guide, designed to clarify which companies own which brands, provide assessment information on those companies, and point out ethical alternatives.

Our song "Your Dollar is Your Vote" captures the spirit of the Guide with thought provoking lyrics driven by a big fat beefy bassline.

Another topic that really gets our blood boiling is Hemp. Hemp could replace the cotton, timber and petrochemical industries. The same industries that are destroying our planet. Hemp makes paper, packaging, clothing, plastic, wood, food, fuel and heaps more. In 1941 Ford built a car made entirely out of hemp which ran on hemp fuel. Nutritionally, hemp seeds are up there with soybeans. I could go on, but our song "Hemp Revolution" pretty much says it all.

Pradeepa says:

If you are concerned about the power that multinational corporations have in our world right now, then read this. After years of being concerned about the environment and the unjust inequality that exists everywhere on the planet, we realised that the most effective way of expressing our opinion effectively, is to no longer give money to the multinationals which are doing so much harm. Several corporation directors and shareholders are making enormous returns, far more money than they could ever need in their lifetime. Meanwhile, their poverty level wages and the pollution their production is spewing out, keeps people in the third world poor, unhealthy and suffering.

The Ethical Consumer Guide is a reference guide you can use when you go shopping. When you look up a certain brand, the guide tells you:
1. Who the parent company is
[Often there is one multinational corporation which owns many many brands, but you don't realise that all the profits from all these various, often competing, brands are going to the same people. When you know the parent company, then you know where your money is really going. The parent company is not always labelled on the packaging
]
2. If the product is Australian Owned
3. The environmental & social record of the company

With the Guide, you can make sure that your money only goes to companies/corporations you approve of. You are in control of who you support, and who you choose not to support. When enough people start spending their money consciously, corporations who have a bad track record will start to notice a decline in sales, and nothing grabs a corporation's attention faster than a decline in sales. A corporation will make whatever changes necessary to reclaim those sales. If we tell them that we will only buy their product again when they meet certain criteria, they will make sure they meet those criteria. We, the consumer, actually have the ultimate power. Without our money, no business, company or corporation can exist. The key is that we must be informed about what is going on and we must make our consumer choices as a collective - en mass. As a collective we have the power to support companies who are making a positive contribution and eliminate companies who are exploiting people, animals and destroying our planet.
